A Seat at the Table: Ensuring Clinical Engineering is Elevated in Your Facility

Mike Busdicker joined us to outline how HTM leaders need to get out of their comfort zones, accept new challenges, and gain knowledge of all the issues facing organizations and healthcare as a whole. Leaders in Clinical Engineering and HTM are expected to meet quality goals and maintain all medical equipment while being challenged to manage large-scale projects within their organizations. However, these leaders are often left out of the decision-making process on these larger projects. Mike provides insight and strategy to ensure the HTM department comes out of the basement to be more than just “the department that fixes equipment.”

F. Mike Busdicker of Intermountain Healthcare

F. Mike Busdicker is the System Director of Clinical Engineering Support Services at Intermountain Healthcare. Mike started his healthcare career with the United States Air Force and served as a Biomedical Technician, First Sergeant, and Human Resource Advisor, completed an operational deployment to Iraq, and achieved the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant during his tenure. 

Prior to Intermountain, Mike held leadership positions with ServiceMaster Management Services, Aramark Clinical Technology Services, TriMedx Healthcare Services, and Alexian Brothers Healthcare System. Mike is an active member of AAMI, ACHE, UHE, HIMSS, NH-ISAC, MDSISC, and is a member of the AAMI Technology Management Council.
